While women with endometriosis take an average of 8 years before being diagnosed, a new digital health platform should make it possible to shorten this time before a care pathway.

EndoZiwig, a new digital health platform, will soon facilitate and shorten the care journey for women with endometriosis. The goal is to divide by 10 the diagnostic wandering of patients, which today lasts eight years on average.
Developed by an SME from Lyon, in collaboration with the Society for Gynecological and Pelvic Surgery (SCGP), EndoZiwig combines the medical expertise of healthcare professionals specializing in endometriosis and cutting-edge technology based on artificial intelligence.
“Restore an often complex personal story”
It offers women first aid in diagnosis (with estimation of the risk of endometriosis) and allows, in less than an hour, the constitution (by the patients themselves) of a structured and secure medical file, with an orientation to the health professional best suited to “their” endometriosis and its level of severity.
“EndoZiwig makes it possible to initiate the care pathway for patients with endometriosis, wherever they live in France. This tool provides us with a solution for restoring an often complex personal history into a synthetic and structured medical file, generated by the patients. “explains Professor François Golfier, chead of the gynecological and oncological surgery department – Obstetrics of the CHU Lyon Sud. “The use of this
file in RCP (multidisciplinary consultation meeting) with the agreement of the patient makes it possible to share reliable information and to facilitate the most relevant therapeutic decisions”, he continues.
Endometriosis is characterized by the presence of endometrium outside the uterine cavity. It is the cause of often debilitating pain, chronic fatigue, digestive or urinary disorders and infertility problems. It often sets in from adolescence and becomes, in the absence of treatment, a chronic pathology. It is estimated that this disease affects 10 to 15% of women of childbearing age in France, i.e. 1.5 to 2.5 million women.
“The PDF file generated via EndoZiwig by the patients is a real asset”
It currently takes an average of 8 years before a diagnosis of endometriosis is made, years during which women multiply appointments and medical examinations. “The PDF file generated via EndoZiwig by the patients is a real asset. What a lot of time saved! We are more available to listen to our patients and understand their feelings. Our consultations have gained so much in efficiency and clarity that I have chosen to offer to all of my patients suffering from endometriosis to join the platform, and this as soon as they make an appointment on Doctolib in particular”, relates Dr. Mathieu Poilblanc, medical and obstetrics gynecologist (Lyon).
The pain, multiple disorders and side effects of treatments have a major impact on the quality of life and mental health of women with endometriosis. The consequences on professional life are also considerable, resulting in frequent and unpredictable absenteeism (with an average of more than 1 month of sick leave per year). The average annual cost of endometriosis is almost 10,000 euros per woman.
