At a time when new technologies are omnipresent in our daily lives, the field of e-health is one of the sectors in full expansion. From now on, all the practices related to telemedicine are part of the universe of health professionals, according to the world health organization. Today, patients can collect medical information themselves or consultations With specialists, doctors can talk to each other to get a second opinion, and they even go so far as to assist a colleague remotely when he performs a medical or surgical act.
Patients monitored daily from home will also be able to benefit from these new tools. During the TechDays trade fair which took place in Paris from February 11 to 13, the health division of Microsoft France took stock of the progress of the system on which it is working with the Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP). The goal is to distribute a tablet application to facilitate the monitoring of hospitalizations at home (HAD). It should allow nurses, doctors and patients to have secure access to medical records at any time and to share information.
800 tablets in mid-March
Documents, prescriptions or even the follow-up of home visits by health personnel: everything is recorded there. The tablet’s camera makes it possible to keep track of documents without having to scan them and, for example, can be useful for a nurse who wants to show the healing of a wound to the doctor, without moving the patient. No more files updated by hand, which leads to a loss of time and a considerable risk of errors.
“The generalization of the project should begin in mid-March. Eventually, the 800 homes monitored remotely in Ile-de-France should all be equipped with these tablets”, indicates Raphaël Mastier, head of the Microsoft health market. A major technical advance, which should allow the AP-HP to save money and precious time, thanks to new technologies.
