Distributor Système U has withdrawn from sale three batches of frozen hamburger steaks in around 30 departments, due to the potential presence of E.coli.
Contaminated hamburger alert. The French distributor Système U has withdrawn from the sale of three batches of frozen chopped steaks of the Bien Vu brand in around thirty departments, after the presence of the Escherichia coli bacterium was detected.
A control revealed “the presence of Escherichia coli 026 H11, likely to cause serious disorders in all the people consuming this raw or undercooked product”, specified the distributor in a press release.

The Bien Vu brand pure beef 20% fat minced steaks, with a use-by date of May 23, 2017, have been withdrawn from stores and consumers informed with the help of posters affixed at points of sale, according to System U. Some of the products in question were, however, marketed before the withdrawal measure.
The areas affected by the recall are the Alps (departments 04, 05, 06), Ardèche, Ariège, Aude, Aveyron, Bouches-du-Rhône, Cantal, Corrèze, Corsica, Gard, Haute-Garonne, Gers, Gironde, Hérault, Landes, Lot, Lot-et-Garonne, Lozère, Pyrénées (departments 64, 65, 66), Tarn, Tarn- et-Garonne, Var, Vaucluse and Monaco.
Escheria coli 026 H11 can cause, in the week following the consumption of the contaminated products, possibly hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, accompanied or not by fever, and which can be followed by severe renal complications in young children, details the press release.
People who have consumed these products and who present this type of symptoms are invited to consult their doctor without delay, notifying him of this consumption as well as the place and date of purchase.
Last month, Super U had already had to withdraw from sales batches potentially contaminated with the E.coli bacteria in some forty French departments.
