At the beginning of October, Aiduce launched a major survey to find out the profile of vapers. The results show that 88% are former smokers whose primary motivation is to quit smoking.
Who are the vapers? This is the question that the Independent Association of Electronic Cigarette Users (Aiduce) wanted to answer, which launched a major survey in early October to find out the profile of vapers. This survey, conducted on 4,262 participants, is now closed. Here are the first results.
Quitting smoking, the number 1 goal of vapers
First of all, Aiduce reveals that 73% of vapers are men. The average e-cigarette user is 39 years old and very often started smoking before the age of 18 (80%).
In addition, the vast majority of vapers are former smokers (88%). Those who still smoke are rarer (12%). Finally, for 0.4% of respondents the e-cigarette was experienced when they had never smoked before.
Logical results since quitting smoking is the number one reason why people start vaping. “Save money” and “reduce tobacco” come in 2nd and 3rd position respectively. More surprisingly, health problems (4th) remain at the foot of this podium.
A profile of “geek-vapoteur”?
Along with these results, Aiduce’s infographics reveal that vaping equipment has changed a lot since the appearance of the e-cigarette in France a few years ago. Benefiting from more efficient and reliable equipment, vapers consume an average of 4.7 ml of e-liquids per day.
For them, the choice of flavors is very important (73%). Gourmets, fans of the vape primarily like fruity flavors (20%). Tobacco and mint flavors follow.
In addition, this survey reveals an aspect that may be less well known about the personality of vapers. They seem to be real internet junkies. Almost half of them go online to find their vaping information. And 42% go to social networks (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) every day to look at information on e-cigarettes or chat with other consumers.
Engaged consumers
Finally, fans of electronic cigarettes do not hesitate to proselytize around them since 96% said that they encouraged their friends to try.
91% of them also say they are worried that drastic regulations in their regard will emerge.
Militants, they signed 70% of the European Initiative for free vaping (EFVI). According to them, this would be threatened over there European directive on tobacco products which must be transposed into French law before May 2016.
