Hair coloring with verve!
Many women, but also men, color their own hair. Covering gray hair, creating a striking haircut or just a different look. Reasons enough!
The choice of colors and brands is large. It is important to read the text on the packaging carefully. This way you know what type of paint you are dealing with. You can pay attention to:
- Is it washable or does it last for a long time?
- How many shades darker/lighter does it get?
- Does it cover gray hair?
Hairdresser or at home
If you have short hair, you can color your hair yourself. Do follow the user manual. With very long hair or bleached hair, it is wise to go to the hairdresser.
A coupe soleil is often more beautiful at the hairdresser than if you do it yourself. In addition, the hairdresser can give you tailor-made advice. They can see what can and cannot be done with your hair.
The hairdresser has a better view of your head and does not skip any spots. Something that can easily happen to you if you color it yourself. The hairdresser can also apply more variation, such as special strips or blocks. Doing it yourself is a lot more difficult, but not impossible.
Temporary tan
Some color products disappear after a few washes, others only after about 24 washes. There are roughly three types of products:
- Temporary coloring – faded from hair after six to eight washes. You can use them to darken your own hair color slightly. With temporary coloring, your hair will never lighten because there is no hydrogen peroxide in it. An advantage of a temporary coloring is that you slowly wash out the color. This way there is no outgrowth.
- Semi-permanent dyes – lasts about eight to twelve washes. This coloring cannot lighten your hair either. A semi-permanent coloring is suitable to camouflage the first gray hair or to color the hair in shades that resemble the natural hair color.
- Permanent coloring – really have to get out of the hair grow. A permanent coloring can make your hair lighter. The color can become dull or faded in the sun. Permanent colorings are also suitable for camouflaging gray hair.
Bad for the hair
Many people think that coloring and dyeing is bad for the hair. Today this is no longer the case. The products contain all kinds of caring ingredients that protect the hair against the effect of hydrogen peroxide, for example.
Extra care
Hair that has been dyed loses moisture faster than non-dyed hair. Your hair will be shiny just after coloring, but this effect will disappear after a few washes.
This is because the caring substances have been washed away from the coloring. Your hair will feel drier and may look dull. That is why it is important to take good care of your hair. Some tips:
- Use a conditioner or conditioner for colored hair after every wash.
- Use a hair dryer very little.
- Don’t comb or brush your hair too roughly, as it will break down faster.
- Use a special shampoo for colored hair. This contains caring ingredients. Rinse the shampoo out with lukewarm water.
- Pat your hair dry after washing. Do not squeeze or wring as this can cause tangled hair and split ends.
