The rumor had been circulating for some time: Cod liver oil could protect against coronavirus. It would not be a magic ingredient against disease, but rather a good ally that would make you more resistant. While it had been observed that populations who consumed it regularly fell less sick from Covid-19, Norwegian study confirms theory.
Fewer patients and less severe cases
The study began a year ago at the Oslo hospital with 70,000 volunteers. Seeing that the results were promising, it was expanded to 150,000 people. Of this total, 2,000 contracted the disease. And two conclusions were drawn by the researchers: the proportion of patients is lower among consumers of cod liver oil, and they generally recover better from the disease. The study is not complete, but already highlights an interesting advantage of this product, which has fallen into disuse since the end of the Second World War.
Not a miracle solution, therefore, but vitamin D intake and very interesting omega 3 in this period of epidemic. These two ingredients allow both strengthen the immune system and have an interest in the anti-inflammatory system.
