Doctolib, an online meeting platform, is launching into teleconsultation. We tell you all about this novelty that should change the lives of patients, especially those who live in medical deserts.
Teleconsultation to alleviate medical deserts
When they need to make a medical appointment, the French are often used to going to Doctolib, which allows you to book your date and time online. A very practical tool which continues to evolve. From now on, it is possible, via this platform, to have access to an online consultation.
A novelty that will be particularly appreciated by patients who cannot move around or those who live in the countryside or in a medical desert. Regarding the cost of the teleconsultation, the patient will not need to pay more than a classic consultation: 25 € for a general practitioner, 30 € for a specialist. They will also be reimbursed in the same way.
Same rates and reimbursement as conventional consultations
For doctors, this teleconsultation service will cost them € 79 per month. They will obviously have to acquire the appropriate equipment in order to have excellent visibility during the teleconsultation. They will receive for that an aid of 350 € from the health insurance.
Regarding patients, if they do not have an Internet connection, they can get one from a pharmacy. They will nevertheless have to have already physically met the doctor before carrying out their first teleconsultation. If, for the moment, this system concerns almost only Île-de-France, the latter should expand rapidly. Government objective: reach 500,000 teleconsultations in 2019.
