The National Assembly voted to maintain the state of emergency until December 14 only, despite the recommendations of the government which would have liked to extend it until mid-February.

Prime Minister Jean Castex was on a visit last night at the Center hospitalier Sud Francilien de Corbeil-Essonnes (Essonne) and told caregivers who are facing the 2nd wave of the epidemic: “You are going to suffer, I know it.” is like that. We assume. We try to make good decisions. It has been a long time since I understood that by closing bars, it is difficult to be popular. But the goal is to save as many lives as possible ”.
Belgium: Covid leads the country to a state of “significant excess mortality”
Belgium has fallen into a state of “significant excess mortality”. Indeed, this period is marked by an increase in the number of deaths above normal. The “normal” is defined by the average number of deaths observed during the last 5 years. The newspaper Sciensano sees a “significant excess mortality of 544 additional deaths in Belgium” for the week of October 19 to 25, representing an increase of 26.8% for the week, compared to previous years.
