In early February, Dr. Philippe Nuss, head of the psychiatry department at Saint Antoine Hospital in Paris, will launch experimentation with a connected bracelet to identify the warning signs of a depression. “This bracelet aims to give the alert when mental health fails”explained the doctor in The Parisian. The sensors of this bracelet, called Myndblue, will record various physiological and behavioral data (sleeping timeheartbeat, blood pressurebody temperature, body acidity, perceived light…).
Thanks to an algorithm developed by the two creators, this data will be able to be sorted and then interpreted by the doctor. “The latter will retrieve the data on his computer or smartphone. He will receive alerts that may indicate early signs of depression in his patients”, specifies Denis Fompeyrine, one of the founders of Myndblue, a start-up currently housed in the Polytechnique incubator. The objective of this bracelet is thus to prevent the relapse of the disease which occurs in almost half of the cases.
“We address patients leaving hospital as well as high-risk professions such as civil security and the armed forces”he adds, specifying that in the long term their objective is also to equip city medicine.
The two entrepreneurs have already filed two patents and, in addition to Doctor Philippe Nuss, have surrounded themselves with a committee of experts including Professor Raphael Gaillard, head of the psychiatry center at Saint-Anne Hospital in Paris.
