Ile-de-France residents who had left to confine themselves to green will be able to return home after May 11, the date scheduled for deconfinement. On condition therefore of having “completed a certificate of return to his home, compelling family reason”, explained the Minister of the Interior, Christophe Castaner.
- More than a million people left the Paris region when the lockdown was announced in mid-March
- They will be able to return to Ile de France for May 11 by completing a certificate specifying the reason for this return.
The news that many French people have been waiting for weeks has finally come. People, in particular Parisians, confined to green, will be able to return home after May 11, the date announced for deconfinement, announced the Minister of the Interior, Christophe Castaner, on Sunday May 3 in the program “Le Grand jury” from RTL, Le Figaro and LCI. “When they left, they had the right to leave (…) They have the possibility of returning to their main residence to resume a professional activity or to educate the children”, did he declare. On condition, therefore, of havingcompleted a certificate of return to his home, compelling family reason”.
Thus, even people who had left to confine themselves more than 100 km from their home, the new limit which will come into force after May 11 for travel during the deconfinement period, will be able to return home. Christophe Castaner, however, recalled the importance of “limit mobility as much as possible”“whether you are in a green or red department” to limit the spread of the virus.
Last Tuesday, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, the Secretary of State for Transport, had already announced that he wanted an “orderly” return of Ile-de-France residents to their homes. According to statistical data from Orange, more than a million Ile-de-France residents left the Paris region when the confinement was announced in mid-March.
Every other seat
“A number of these Parisians, who have gone into temporary exile, are now making reservations for train tickets to returnhe had indicated on France 5. We will organize in the coming days the return of those who want it”he continued, specifying that the number of trains will remain very limited and that the SNCF will continue not to sell more than half of the seats in order to best respect the barrier measures.
In mid-April, the Director General of Health had already warned against a massive return to the Paris region from May 11. “What will have to be avoided are interregional transport and population exchanges between massively affected areas and little affected areas, this is how we will reactivate the circulation of the virus”had thus alerted Jérôme Salomon.
