Cupra will be present at the Munich Motor Show to exhibit the UrbanRebel. A sports concept announcing the arrival, in 2025, of a versatile electric city car, around 4m, technical cousin of the future Volkswagen ID.1. A future rival of the Alpine A5?
The first teaser released by Cupra about its concept left no doubt about the ultra sporty aspect of the car. The UrbanRebel Concept is a purely sporting evocation of what could be the future city car of the brand scheduled for 2025.
A style made for the runway

In addition to its spoiler which could serve as a camping table on the road for the next vacation, the Cupra concept sports a largely openwork front bumper, an imposing rear diffuser, generously sized rims, widened fenders … All the panoply to integrate a championship of track race. It will not be. The UrbanRebel is a concept whose objective is above all to announce the arrival in the medium term of a 100% electric city car in the Cupra range.
An evocative concept

Cupra does not hide it: its catalog will welcome an electric city car in 2025 and this concept sports “the language of design”. Understand by this that the production model will be inspired by certain lines proposed by the UrbanRebel, but that it will not be the faithful projection, as can be the case with a show car. The dimensions of the concept are also subject to variations (4.08 m long, 1.80 m wide, 1.44 high). The production model will be a city car of about 4.05 m in length.
Up to 435 hp in a city car!

The same goes for the mechanical part. This concept has a continuous output of 250 kW (340 hp) up to 320 kW (435 hp) at peak. Enough to go, according to Cupra, from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.2 seconds. The standard offer will not be able to offer such power given that the batteries used will have an iron phosphate cathode: a chemistry less expensive than the nickel-manganese-cobalt versions, but also offering less performance.

The city car will be based on the MEB platform

On the other hand, it will indeed be based on a shortened version of the MEB platform, just like the future Volkswagen ID.1 (a concept of which will also be in Munich) and Skoda Elroq. All these urban models will be produced in the Spanish factory in Martorell, near Barcelona, with a target of 500,000 units per year, all brands combined. Due to the positioning of the Cupra brand, this city car will play the sporting card and should position itself against the future Alpine version of the Renault 5 (Alpine A5?) Whose engine will develop in the 220 hp.
While waiting for the final version of this electric city car, Cupra will exhibit this UrbanRebel concept at the Munich Motor Show (September 7 to 12).
