Launched during the first confinement to help people in psychological suffering, the CovidEcoute support platform is again available during this second confinement. On the program: free teleconsultations with a therapist and support to learn to “help yourself”.
Psychological support needed
Anxiety, stress, depression, withdrawal into oneself, social phobia … The confinement linked to the Covid-19 pandemic has generated a great deal of psychological suffering. Faced with this observation, the FondaMental foundation created the CovidÉcoute platform in order to offer free teleconsultations of psychological support and guides to help oneself in this difficult period. Volunteers offering these support services are called upon again during this second confinement. And for good reason, the fact of reliving a second time this period of forced isolation that we already experienced in March has a real impact on our morale.
The CovidÉcoute platform offers two types of support
- A 45-minute teleconsultation with a psychologist or a psychiatrist: you must first have answered a questionnaire to specify your feelings and questions. However, the site specifies “This consultation is not a psychotherapy session, the professionals are there to respond to the urgency of the situation, starting from your need and directing you as best as possible to the care adapted to your needs”.
- Documents to help yourself: advice, meditation exercises offered by Stéphany Pelissolo as well as links to websites.
The main reasons for appeal
In a press release dated May 7, 2020, the FondaMental foundation explained “Among the reasons for consultation mentioned, the three main reasons for calling are sadness at being separated from their loved ones (43%), the worsening of suffering pre-existing to the Covid-19 crisis (42%) and the no longer supporting confinement (41%). Sleep problems are also a major reason for appeal (37%). The fear of contracting the Covid in confinement as well as in deconfinement remains significant for nearly a quarter of callers. Finally, one in five callers report difficulties related to overwork, exhaustion and daily management. It should be noted that 10% of callers present suicidal thoughts ”.
