- THE incidence rate is 32.5, down 7.8% over the past seven days.
- THE positivity rate drop, it is 5% (-0.9% over one week).

- Number of people hospitalized drop over a week, with 1,260 hospitalizations over the last seven days (-18.3% in 7 days).
- Number of death continues to decline with 124 deaths over the last seven days (-38%).

Every week, Santé Publique France, publishes the main trends in the evolution of Covid in France.
According to February 16 report, virological indicators were at a low level and continued to decline. Nevertheless, the indicators of use of care in town were stable and those in the emergency room increased slightly. New hospitalizations and deaths continued to decline.
Coast vaccinationPublic Health France specifies that 22.2% of 60-79 year olds received a booster adapted to the Omicron variant (26.8% among those eligible); and respectively 24.9% and 28.5% among those aged 80 and over. In addition, 27.4% of 60-79 year olds and 18.8% of 80 year olds and over received a dose less than 6 and 3 months old respectively.

- Note that the HAS issued a favorable opinion on the use on reminder of two “classic” vaccines therefore without messenger RNA: the new Sanofi vaccine (VidPrevtyn®) and that of Novavax (Nuvaxovid®) in adults.
“In the context of a still active circulation of SARS-CoV-2 and winter viruses (flu and gastro), it remains recommended to maintain adherence to the combined measures”, calls SPF:
- up-to-date vaccination against COVID-19, in particular by a booster dose with a bivalent vaccine (against the initial strain and the Omicron variant) for eligible primary vaccinated, as well as against influenza;
- maintenance of the application of barrier gesturesespecially in the event of a positive test and/or symptoms.
What variants are currently circulating in France?
- BA.5 remains the majority, but is decreasing (74% of sequences during the Flash S04 survey); with sub-lineage stabilization BQ.1.1 (59% for Flash S04 vs 60% for S03)
- Recombinant XBB increased to 14% (vs 9% for Flash S03), with 11% XBB.1.5 (vs. 7%)
- All of the currently described Omicron sublineages exhibit similar characteristics
What are the rules related to Covid at the moment?
Isolation and contacts in the event of a positive test : since February 1, 2023, in accordance with the recommendations of the High Council for Public Health (HCSP), systematic isolation for people who test positive for Covid-19 and the performance of a screening test on the second day of notification of the contact status for asymptomatic contact persons are no longer required. On the other hand, as with any acute respiratory infection disease, it remains strongly recommended that people who test positive for Covid-19, as well as people who have been exposed to a contagious person and are likely to develop the disease, respect barrier gestures, to be tested and to avoid contact with fragile people.

Since January 31, 2023, the “Covid Contact” teleservice Health Insurance, which allowed the identification and care of people sick with Covid-19 and contact cases has been deleted. It also induces the suspension of contact tracing possibilities by Health Insurance aimed at searching for contact cases in the entourage of people positive for Covid-19.
