While people over the age of 65 must now take a 3rd dose of the vaccine against covid-19 to continue to benefit from the health pass, we forget that people aged 50 to 74 with comorbidities can also claim at this booster dose. She should be given 6 months after the last vaccine injection and 4 weeks after the single injection of Janssen
Which high-risk diseases qualify for the vaccine?
The comorbidities that qualify for the vaccine are diseases determined “at high risk of death” or at high risk of severe form of covid-19, determined by the High Health Authority. Here are the main ones:
- Obesity (BMI over 30)
- COPD and respiratory failure
- Complicated hypertension
- Heart failure
- Type 1 and type 2 diabetes
- Chronic renal failure
- Cancers and malignant hematological diseases active and less than 3 years old
- Trisomy 21
- Organ or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
Note however that this new dose of vaccine is not linked to the health pass for people with comorbidities.
By whom to be vaccinated?
- By your attending physician
- In pharmacy
- In a vaccination center with a medical prescription (issued by the attending physician).
The HAS emphasizes the special attention that must be paid to people who have several comorbidities and who must be among the people to be vaccinated as a priority. Studies show that the accumulation of three comorbidities leads to almost the same level of risk of dying as in the upper age group without polypathologies.
