This measure at the draft stage was announced by the Minister of Health, Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, during the conference Chemical environment, reproduction and development of the child, which was held yesterday at the Ministry of Ecology.
“I would like to study, in partnership with manufacturers, the possibility of affixing a logo on reprotoxic products indicating that they are not recommended for pregnant women and young children,” said Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin.
This is the last point addressed in the Minister’s speech more generally on the risks for fertility (men / women) of certain chemical substances. “I will have information on the potential risk of using these products inserted in the maternity notebook,” added Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin.
The French Agency for Sanitary Safety of Health Products (Afssaps) was tasked with reassessing the risk of cosmetics during pregnancy and in young children.
The implementation of new cosmetic recommendations is part of a more global information campaign aimed at the general public, women who are or may be pregnant, but also health professionals. The organization of this new system planned for 2009 has been entrusted to the National Institute of Prevention and Education for Health (Inpes).
