More than a third of French people would be ready to undergo surgery or aesthetic medicine. Hair hunting is popular with both sexes.
Laser hair removal, wrinkle filling and other facelifts to appear younger, today these techniques supposed to erase the least of our misfortunes are on the rise. While until a few years ago, these interventions were mainly carried out among the wealthiest people, now it seems that hair transplantation or botox injections are more and more popular among all classes of the population. According to a survey carried out by Opinionway for the Clinique des Champs Elysées (Paris) on a sample of 1012 French people of both sexes over 18 years old, 40% of them are considering an intervention of this type.
Hair, stomach and wrinkles for women
In France, it is estimated that 400,000 acts of cosmetic surgery are performed each year. The authors of this survey wanted to know more about the preferred interventions in both sexes. On the women’s side, the fight against unsightly hair has won the day. Indeed, for 36% of them, laser hair removal to get rid of it permanently is a necessity. Then, 19% of women want to have a flat stomach with smooth skin. Among the 25-34 year olds, a quarter also intend to erase the traces of pregnancy by practicing liposuction against excess fat or undergoing procedures to end cellulite. Finally, a face without wrinkles appears as the third wish; 17% of women say they are ready to go through injections or facelifts.
Hair, love handles and baldness for men
On the side of his gentlemen, same observation, they are more and more likely to succumb to the sirens of aesthetics. “In 10 years, male demand has increased from 5 to 15%,” says Dr Michel Cohen, president of the Clinque des Champs Elysées. As for women, the motivation for cosmetic surgery is the same: to look after the appearance ”.
And it is the hunt for hair that comes at the top of the motivations.
Laser hair removal is therefore the most requested act (torso, back, legs) for 13% of them, before the stomach. 9% of the men questioned would have recourse to liposuction on the love handles and the stomach to restore a younger look to their silhouette.
Equal (9%) hair transplantation which would represent a large proportion of the techniques acclaimed by men at any age. Only 6% of men say they are ready to undergo a facelift against wrinkles on the face. More surprisingly, however, the same proportion (6%) of men say they want to make cosmetic changes to their penis, not just to lengthen it, some also want to thicken it.
