Pending a green light from the CNIL (Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés), the government wishes to communicate to general practitioners the list of their patients not vaccinated against Covid-19.
Come into direct contact with the unvaccinated …
“They will have it”, said the Minister of Health on Tuesday on France Info. Asked about the recent request from attending physicians, namely, to have a list of their patients vaccinated or not against Covid-19. “I ask the CNIL to give me the possibility of sending general practitioners the list of their patients who have been vaccinated so that they can mobilize those who have not been”, commented Olivier Véran. Faced with a declining vaccination rate, the authorities are worried and wish to arm doctors with this list.
According to information from Echoes, the idea is to cross the patient base of the doctors with the nominative files established by the Health insurance. The latter has a database of vaccinations co-managed by the General Directorate of Health (DGS). The CNIL must decide this Thursday on the question. But ethically, people are wondering, since this medical data is particularly sensitive and protected: identity information, social security number, co-morbidities, contact details, dates and places of injections, etc.
… To convince and inform!
The number of appointments for a first dose of vaccine has been in free fall for several weeks and the milestone to reach a form of collective immunity is far from being reached. But behind this maneuver, doctors have long been calling for this kind of tool. To develop initially, a health policy of “going towards” which consists in fighting against health inequalities, by going to seek the fragile people and the most distant from the care and secondly, to overcome the glass ceiling which hovers over France since vaccination is open to all. “There is a whole section of the population, not necessarily opposed to vaccination, but who have not been vaccinated. And these people, we have to go look for them one by one “, explains to France Inter Luc Duquesnel, president of the generalist section of the CSMF union.
Demonstrating pedagogy and convincing the most undecided, this is the interest of these lists for Jérôme Marty. Asked by France Info, the president of the French Union for Free Medicine (UFML) is enthusiastic “It’s an idea that is a facilitator to actually call people to discuss this vaccination with them, to dispel doubts when there are any in order to bring them to the vaccination. […] What must be understood is that vaccination is an altruistic gesture. It is a gesture to protect oneself, but it is above all to protect others. And then, it is to win this collective fight in which we are all engaged. It is a collective fight which aims to eradicate this disease. If everyone does not play their role, at that moment, we lose the fight and the fact of not playing our role, of not playing the collective is selfish behavior ”.
