In order to protect early childhood professionals, but also to ensure the proper development of children, the government will distribute 500,000 transparent masks.
The board of directors of the CNAF has voted
The staff of nurseries and homes for childminders will soon be able to be equipped with so-called inclusive masks. The latter have encountered many difficulties since the onset of the health crisis. The Minister of Solidarity and Health, Olivier Véran and Adrien Taquet, the Secretary of State for Children and Families, asked the National Family Allowance Fund to provide transparent masks to these professionals. The organization decided on the funding, “ on an exceptional and unique basis, the acquisition and distribution of transparent masks for the staff of nurseries and homes for childminders (MAM) “. This is how each professional concerned (nurseries, micro-nurseries and MAM) will receive 3 transparent masks. It is Chronopost which will ensure the free delivery of these 500,000 masks to their respective places of exercise, thanks to a partnership ” unpublished “. As Olivier Véran reminds us, “ The epidemic situation has led thousands of early childhood professionals to adopt health instructions that I know are restrictive. But they have always done it with responsibility, and this constant concern to welcome children in the best conditions. I welcome the decision of the CNAF board of directors, which will support them in their daily mission. “
An essential element for the physical and psychological construction of the child
Clear or inclusive masks are essential for caregivers, but also for those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Indeed, some doctors warn that toddlers see people masked all day, which can be a barrier to their development. The baby is built by observation and imitation of adults and the fabric or surgical mask does not allow to see the facial expressions of his interlocutor. Certain tools must be adapted, hence the issue of the distribution of transparent masks. Adrien Taquet underlines this, in the press release of November 17: “ The epidemic is not yet behind us, I thank the CNAF for having responded to the Government’s invitation. Accessing the faces and emotions of the adults around them on a daily basis is a key factor in the healthy development of young children. It is now up to employers to continue this dynamic “.
