In France, more than 9 out of 10 women who do not wish to have children use a contraceptive method. And of unintended pregnancies, 2 in 3 occur in women using contraception. 23% of women who have an abortion take the pill.
To fight against this public health problem, the Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS) has set up an information site on contraceptive methods aimed at the general public and tools intended for professionals. And to allow people to better choose the method according to their age, lifestyle and needs.
Choose your contraception
This site edited by INPEES, choisirsacontraception.fr, offers 14 practical and detailed sheets on the different methods of contraception, medical recommendations, useful contacts, as well as answers to the most frequent questions. A fun site that accompanies, step by step, women and men who are wondering about this subject. And who tries to fight against received ideas (the pill makes you fat, the IUD makes sterile …) and the lack of information that can slow down the right choice of a contraceptive.
Tools for healthcare professionals
In addition to the general public site, the Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS) now provides public authorities and health professionals with tools to meet the needs of women.
In particular, memo cards that will help healthcare professionals to find, with his patient, the contraception most suited to her needs and to her clinical situation.
