After various contradictory recommendations, the isolation was lifted for vaccinated contact cases in the event of a negative test.
- A contact case is a person who has been in contact with a positive case for Covid-19, in the absence of effective protective measures for the duration of the contact (hygiaphone, glass, surgical mask, FFP2).
- If you are in contact, it is recommended to isolate yourself, carry out a test and monitor your state of health.
Contact cases vaccinated against Covid-19 will no longer have to isolate themselves for 7 days – the incubation time – if their test is negative. “When you are doubly vaccinated, the residual risk of being affected by Covid is very low. And the risk of serious forms is even lower than this”, explained Tuesday July 20 the Minister of Health Olivier Véran on RTL. This new easing measure will be included in the health law discussed this Wednesday in the health defense council and then in Parliament.
On the other hand, if the test of a vaccinated contact case person is positive, he will have to isolate himself for ten days, under penalty of a fine of 1500 euros. Except in an emergency, outings are only authorized between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., the police being able to carry out checks between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. and 11 p.m.
Questioning the contact case status
Olivier Véran also questioned the status of contact case for vaccinated people. “What could be recorded is that when you are fully vaccinated, you are no longer in contact when you have been in contact with a sick person”, unless you live in the same household as the infected person, he explained on RTL.
Public Health France announced yesterday 18,181 new cases contaminated with Covid-19 identified during the past 24 hours. This figure is up 161% compared to last Tuesday (6,950 cases on July 13), in particular because of the spread of the Delta variant.
Entry into force of the health pass
In order to stop this fourth wave, the application of the health pass is planned from this Wednesday, July 21 in places of leisure and culture welcoming at least 50 people, such as theaters, games, sports or museums.
