From March 21, high school and college students over the age of 12, who have not received the vaccine against Covid-19, will no longer be forced to isolate themselves for seven days, when they are contact cases.
- Since January 24, adolescents aged 12 to 17 can benefit from a booster dose of the vaccine against Covid-19.
- The ministry specified that the booster was not mandatory, but recommended because of the high contagiousness of the Omicron variant, which also affects this age group.
“If your child aged 12 or over is a ‘contact case’ and is not vaccinated, then he will have to remain isolated for 7 days. He will not have to go to school and will follow his learning from a distance.” This is one of the rules that has been established in schools so far. But from Monday, this measure changes.
No obligation to self-isolate as of March 21
On March 17, the Ministry of Education indicated that, as of March 21, students over the age of 12, who are in middle school and high school, will no longer be obliged to isolate themselves for seven days, if they are not vaccinated and if they are contact cases. “They will respect the same rules as contact cases with a complete vaccination schedule, namely the performance of a self-test on D2”, the ministry said. However, it is “strongly recommended” to wear the mask indoors for seven days after the occurrence of the confirmed case.
According to the Ministry of Education, the parents of the students contact case at risk “will be given a free self-test on presentation of the letter submitted by the establishment”. “At the same time, the CPAM can carry out checks on the status of student contacts at risk (vaccination, Covid-19 history) and transmit the elements in a secure manner to the sole attention of the health personnel of the National Education”he added.
