- La Poste has partnered with a network of pharmacies to ensure rapid delivery of medicines
- A courier comes to take prescriptions and Vitale cards and brings the medicines back to private homes
Aprium Express. This is the name of the new service of The post office. In Paris, Lille, Le Havre and Toulouse, the latter offers to deliver a medicine that has been prescribed to you, within two hours and for only one euro. The device, free if you are a caregiver, was created in partnership with Aprium Pharmacie, a network bringing together nearly 400 French pharmacies and the Parisian start-up Stuart, a delivery specialist.
While the French are currently confined for at least two more weeks, this service is aimed “to the most vulnerable people, such as those with chronic illnesses, who are among the most at risk from Covid-19, in order to provide them with treatment or medication while limiting their movements”, says Aprium in a press release.
However, anyone can of course take advantage of this service. All you have to do is connect to the Aprium Pharmacy network website and enter your address. The group then displays a list of nearby establishments and the patient chooses their delivery slot. He can download his prescription online in complete security (the service is hosted by Docaposte, which is one of the certified health data hosts).
A discreet and secure bag
Then, “entrust your prescription and your Vitale card in a closed envelope to a Stuart courier (La Poste Group) who will drop it off at your usual pharmacy”Explain Atrium on its site. If the latter does not have the desired medicine, the pharmacist “will then offer you a new delivery slot at your convenience to deliver your medicine to you”it is specified.
If he has what it takes, “your pharmacist will prepare your order and put it in a secure and discreet bag. You will be able to follow the Stuart courier in real time with your bag. You can also add parapharmacy products to your order directly online, they will be in the secure and discreet bag containing your prescription drugs”, is it written. “The courier is only an intermediary. Only the pharmacist and the patient have access to this information”assures Guillaume Bosc, director of health experiments at La Poste, to Capital.
The group bought Stuart in 2017. The following year it launched home delivery of medicines for chronic conditions such as diabetes. It is therefore continuing today to diversify its offer with “Aprium Express”, effective since January.
For the time being, the business is working rather well since “in Paris alone, already 200 deliveries have been made”, after Guillaume Bosc. The system should therefore soon be extended to the 310 establishments of the Aprium Pharmacy network spread throughout France.
