After tracking down endocrine disruptors in our locks of hair, the Génération futures association analyzed 30 everyday consumer products sold in France in search of traces of glyphosate, the world’s best-selling herbicide.
Result: traces of this herbicide were found in more than half of the products including breakfast cereals, lentils, chickpeas and pasta.
“As our survey shows, the presence of glyphosate residues is frequent in the targeted foods. It undoubtedly makes it possible to explain the contamination of all people tested for glyphosate, as reported. evidence in our research glyphosate in the urine last April!“declares François Veillerette, spokesperson and director of Générations Futures.
A molecule classified “probably carcinogenic”
Générations Futures carried out this research on this molecule classified as “probably carcinogenic” for humans by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) because it is very rarely sought in food by the fraud control services due to the high cost of analyzes.
It should be remembered that by the end of the year, the European Commission must decide on whether or not to renew the use of glyphosate. Many scientists and NGOs, joined by certain Member States of the European Union, including France, ask for non-re-authorization of this dangerous molecule. The EU will have to decide by December 15.
