Three celebrities have successively announced their health problem or their surgery. A trend that we find more and more on social networks, especially on Tik Tok.
- In France, more than 3.5 million people are treated with medication for diabetes, or 5.3% of the population.
- About 2.5 million people are affected by psoriasis in France.
- In France, the caesarean section rate (20.4% of deliveries in 2016) has remained stable since 2010.
While not so long ago, suffering from an illness or having undergone surgery was rather passed over in silence, times are changing. Three models have just publicly shown the affection from which they suffer.
Cara Delevingne and her psoriasis
Thus, on Monday May 2, the model and actress Cara Delevingne appeared on the Met Gala red carpet with her bust covered in gold paint, deliberately revealing her patches of psoriasis on her body. The international star, who has suffered from the autoimmune skin condition for years, told W Magazine that the appearance of the red patches on her skin was stress-related, as with many people with the condition. “It only happens during Fashion Week! Which obviously is the worst time of year for me to get covered in plaques,” she said, also recounting having been discriminated against because of her appearance during her career. “People wore gloves and didn’t want to touch me because they thought it was some kind of leprosy,” she confided.
Lila Moss and her diabetes
Lila Moss, the daughter of the famous model Kate Moss, is currently appearing in an advertising campaign with her blood glucose sensor. The young woman, who had already taken this step during the Met Gala, is indeed type 1 diabetic, and must therefore never separate from her self-monitoring device. “It’s very important to keep in my bag, it accompanies me everywhere. I even have an Apple Air Tag to follow it with my phone”explained the model on the YouTube channel of Vogue. “I also have sugar tablets, in case my blood sugar drops”, she confided, affecting thousands of diabetics.

Kelly Hughes and her C-section
Finally, the model Kelly Hughes is currently on the cover of the famous American magazine Sports Illustrated by revealing the scar left by her Caesarean section. It is obviously not, in this last case, a pathology, but participates in the desire more and more present on social networks to assume the stigmata left by pregnancies (one thinks for example of the photo of stretch marks of model Ashley Graham, who recently had twins).
