The National Cancer Institute (INCa) is launching, in partnership with the National Cancer League and a group of associations, a platform for people suffering from cancer and their families. Cancer info has been designed to answer questions about the disease, its treatments, side effects as well as the steps of daily and professional life during and after cancer.
“In a context where the sources of information on cancers are numerous but heterogeneous, Cancer info offers the guarantee of reference, precise and up-to-date information, with the aim of helping patients who so wish to be actors of their management through an enlightened understanding of the disease, its treatments and their consequences, ”says INCa.
Its contents are drawn up from the recommendations in force, bringing together oncology specialists and patients. A radio campaign will be broadcast from November 19 until December 9 in order to educate as many people as possible.
By phone, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., on 0810 810 821, experts answer all questions, whether they are of a practical, medical or social nature. A second level, provided by the National League against Cancer, provides callers with a more personalized psychological listening service, as well as legal assistance. On the Internet, the sites: www.e-cancer.fr Where www.e-cancer.fr/cancerinfo propose files relating, for example, to the rights of patients or the administrative procedures to be carried out. Guides can also be downloaded or ordered free of charge from the INCa website at: www.e-cancer.fr/publications.
These various services have been operating for several years, but “it is important to make them better known and to ensure that all patients seeking information can have access to them”, explain INCa and the League against cancer.
