And how much will I get?
You think you are entitled to healthcare allowance for the past year, but you have not yet applied for it. Is that still possible?
You can still apply for health care allowance for 2011. You have until 1 April 2012 to do so. Care allowance can go up to €70 per month if you live alone or €140 if you live together.
Who is entitled to it?
Everyone who is older than 18 years and lives and/or works in the Netherlands is compulsorily insured for medical expenses. For certain incomes, the government offers a contribution towards the costs of that insurance: the health care allowance. The exact amount of the supplement depends on your income. The qualifying income is the whole of boxes 1, 2 and 3.
Calculation aid
on www.toeslagen.nl you will find a calculation tool for calculating your qualifying income. For single people, the income may not exceed € 36,022 per year. A limit of € 54,264 applies to cohabitants.
The higher costs in 2011 are not compensated by a higher health care benefit. On the contrary, the surcharge will decrease. The Rutte cabinet has now announced that it wants to further cut the health care allowance.
