Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin originally used in the medical field in ophthalmology and in neurology to treat problems with strabismus and blepharospasm (repeated twitching of the eyelids) or facial hemispasm.
Botulinum toxin is secreted by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. The product that is injected is a drug containing botulinum toxin type A, that is to say a purified protein produced in the laboratory.
Today, botulinum toxin andhyaluronic acid are often combined in order to obtain the best possible correction, which respects the harmony and naturalness of the features. Thus, for the top of the face, we erase a tired look and we open the eyes thanks to the botulinum toxin. For the bottom, injections of hyaluronic acid restore a calm and relaxed smile. For example, when the lion’s worm is very marked, an injection of botulinum toxin gives an improvement of 80%. There remains a break in the dermis which can be filled, a week later, with an injection of hyaluronic acid. The result is then 100%.
Treat frown lines, crow’s feet …
This toxin is used to treat facial expression lines, in particular for the treatment of wrinkles between the eyebrows (frown lines). Its injection in small quantities, directly into the muscles responsible for the formation of expression lines, allows them to relax and therefore to make them disappear. In particular: wrinkle of the glabella (frown in the middle of the forehead between the roots of the eyebrows), frowning, crow’s feet, corner of the mouth (for the bitterness folds), neck.
Some very fleeting tingling or burning sensations due to the product are frequent. In the majority of cases, the face does not contain any traces. Some bruising or redness may appear where the skin has been bitten, but this is rare. One can feel an impression of “hard skin” on the forehead, headaches or slight nausea, especially after the first session. For a few days, you should avoid the sun, do not rub your eyes, do not take a plane, or practice sports. Botulinum toxin is contraindicated in pregnancy, neurological and neuromuscular diseases.
A result that lasts 4 to 6 months
It depends on the strength of the muscle, which is very different from person to person. The result lasts from four to six months for marked wrinkles, nine months to a year for very slight wrinkles, in the case of a young woman and in prevention to delay the breakage of the wrinkle. A good doctor will make a relatively light first injection, then a possible touch-up, included in the price, two weeks later.
It takes about 250 € for the treatment of bridle and up to € 450 for the entire forehead area.
