A car does not have to be old to have been properly put together. One of the first BMW M5 First Editions in the Netherlands crashed after a month on the A7. The damage was not too bad with this fast sedan and the matte red car is now driving around in the Netherlands again. The white BMW M5 Competition in the video below had made a bigger impact, but here too someone thought the car could still be repaired – but not in the right way.
In the video you can see how someone with a putty knife and a hammer taps large pieces of the body. Now there are more images of cars that have been unprofessionally dented and where a little too much filler has been used, but this really takes the cake. It even seems as if serious polyurethane foam has been used to fill the major dents. After that, the white M5 was cheerfully repainted and probably sold on to an unsuspecting enthusiast. At least that’s our guess. You would only find out after the purchase.
If you ever suspect that a car has thick layers of filler, take a magnet with you to check it. Or better: leave it alone. If your feeling is not good when buying a car – especially with something like a BMW M5 Competition – then it is often wise to listen to that feeling. In addition, the seasoned scammers are smart enough to incorporate some metal strips into their putty or polyurethane foam.
