We already knew that blueberries are good for the eyesight and protect the heart. But now a new study by researchers at the Michigan Cardiovascular Research Laboratory (USA) shows that obese rats on a diet enriched with blueberries (blueberry powder was sprinkled on their usual food) lost their abdominal fat mass, reduced their cholesterol levels and regulated their sugar levels. Just that…
According to these researchers, the results of this study suggest that the high content of anti-oxidants blueberries modify fat storage and mobilize sugar more easily as “fuel”, thus reducing the risk of excess weight … and therefore of diabetes or cardiovascular disease.
Daily consumption
“We keep recalling all the health benefits associated with a daily consumption of fruits and vegetables. But this study shows the additional benefit on the health of a fruit such as blueberry and the natural plant compounds that compose it, particularly anthocyanosides, close to flavonoids, “said researchers from the University of Michigan.
This research will now be carried out to see if the benefits are applicable to men. However, a first experiment has already shown that men with significant cardiovascular risk factors saw their state of health improve slightly by consuming blueberry juice daily for three weeks.
Come on, a small glass of blueberry juice to go with your oatmeal berry muffins for breakfast?
