It all started with a simple cold for Evie, a 4 month old British baby. Before turning into a nightmare… tells the English daily Chronicle Live.
A first medical consultation reassures the parents of the sick baby, it would be a virus. But seeing the infant’s condition deteriorate, Chloé Lavan and David Green return to see the doctor. Second diagnosis: bronchiolitis.
But the child’s breathing slowed dangerously, to the point of rushing to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire. From there, extensive tests are put in place revealing that the baby’s heart has grown abnormally.
From the common cold to myocarditis
Then examined by specialists, the little girl was diagnosed with myocarditis. This heart disease can be caused by viral infections. The child’s heart was only at 3% of its capacity at this stage of the disease. Care in time, the 4-month-old baby is closely monitored by doctors.
She will need lifelong treatment, and perhaps a heart transplant one day, the British daily points out.
