Cases of Avian Flu recently detected in migratory birds at borders of Switzerland and Germany as well as in a number of other European countries (Austria, Croatia, Denmark, Hungary, Netherlands, Poland), the Ministry of Agriculture has decided to put in place measures to protect livestock .
The ministry thus decided to raise the level of risk vis-à-vis the disease from “negligible” to “moderate” on the whole of the national territory. And in certain areas known as “ecological zones at particular risk” (see the map here), the risk vis-à-vis avian influenza is now qualified as “high”.

In these areas, where wildlife is very present, reinforced security measures apply to backyards and commercial poultry farms. This involves confining the poultry or laying netting to prevent contact with passing wild birds.
In these areas too, bird gatherings (fairs, exhibitions) are also subject to restrictions. In particular, racing pigeon competitions are prohibited.
