Three weeks before the end of the crawl space, the government presents its measures to restock geese and ducks.
New step in the eradication of the avian influenza virus. In a decree, published this Saturday in the Official Journal, the Ministry of Agriculture explains the methods of repopulating palmiped farms, at the end of the crawl space.
The measure took effect on April 18, and will be in effect for three more weeks. This crawl space concerns 15 departments of the South-West. The installation of new animals is temporarily prohibited and the geese and ducks present must remain confined inside the farms. As the ministry explains in a press release, the objective is to “proceed to a phase of sanitation, a gradual depopulation and a repopulation in controlled sanitary conditions. ”
Monitoring of seropositive animals
The decree defines the methods of eliminating contaminating materials (manure, slurry, droppings). These materials must be buried in the ground “at a depth preventing other animals from having access to it”. They can also be destroyed by anaerobic digestion, specifies the text.
There are also plans to strengthen serological and virological monitoring measures for breeding and seropositive geese and ducks.
The highly pathogenic avian influenza virus has been detected to date in 77 farms in 9 departments. The H5N9 virus does not present any danger to humans.
