Quattro is doing his best
It’s not all about horsepower, as it turns out. The five-cylinder in the new Audi RS 3 produces 400 hp, just like its predecessor, but the new version is 0.3 seconds faster to 100 km/h. On the one hand, this is due to a whole 20 Nm extra, but also due to the fine-tuning of all systems. It is now known that Audi is always a bit modest in stating the specifications. The reason for this is that the stated specifications must also be attainable under less than ideal conditions. It now appears that the new RS 3 is even faster.
Our set-up: winter tires, cold and dusty asphalt and a driver who is certainly not going to get his super license soon. What you call less than ideal conditions. The stated 0-100 time is 3.8 seconds, but we recorded a 0-100 time of only 3.6 seconds. That is 0.2 seconds faster than specified. Just imagine what the Audi has to achieve with good tires and on pleasant asphalt. By the way, this concerned the Sportback, but in principle the sedan should be just as fast. Modern hatches are crazy.
What does the Audi RS 3 cost again?
At Audi they like to see 92,607 euros in their bank account for the RS 3 Sportback. Prefer the Limousine? Then you have to bring 93,255 euros. That is, if you don’t take options, because of course it is no problem at all to push the price up to 100,000 euros and far beyond. Sure, that’s a lot of money for a hatchback or small sedan. But for the performance you get, it’s not all that bad.
