After several weeks of greyness all over France, the sun is (finally) making its appearance again. Who says temperatures which start to rise again says risk of dehydration.
But how do you know in the middle of the day if your body is hydrated enough? According to Dr Karan Rajan, surgeon and professor at Imperial College of London, it would be enough to pinch yourself.
In a video posted on TikTok, the doctor explains the procedure to follow.

You have to pinch the skin at the joints and watch what happens. If the skin is quickly put back in place, the body is hydrated. If it takes several seconds to come back down, this is a sign that you have to drink, and quickly.
Water makes the skin more elastic
This method, called “Skin Pinch Test” in English (test of the pinch of skin), makes it possible to account for the elasticity of the skin. The more hydrated the skin, the more elastic it is, so it quickly returns to its initial place.
Conversely, a skin lacking water will be less elastic and will have more difficulty getting back into place.
On average, depending on the morphology of each person, an adult person is advised to drink between 1.5 and 2 liters of water per day.
