Apple’s very first headset will soon be released and the company will focus on three functions.
We’ve been talking about Apple’s headset for years, but the device isn’t here yet. The company takes the time to develop it. It would probably be a so-called mixed reality headset, which combines augmented reality and virtual reality. This, of course, fits well within the metaverse. Mark Gurman by Bloomberg thinks Apple will focus on three functions.
Apple’s headset
With its first headset, the tech giant will focus on three functions: gaming, media consumption and communication.
Games are a gold mine, which is why they will play an important role. There are already a number of VR headsets on sale, so Apple has to act quickly. And the company will do that with multiple processors, ventilation and high-resolution displays in the headset. This would make the new device extremely suitable for games. With its own App Store, Apple would like to present the headset as “a game developers dream” according to Gurman. Whether there are any games in development is unknown.
By media consumption we mean watching movies and series. And of course listening to music. Gurman believes Apple is working with media partners to make content available in VR. Apple TV will undoubtedly play a part in this.
You should also be able to communicate with the headset. Think of FaceTimen, in which Animoij and Memoij also play a role.
Price
All of the company’s products are pricey. Especially when they are offered for the first time. The first series of headsets would not be mass-produced, but should make the market for this type of product more attractive. Now the market is still quite limited and not many people have such a device. If Apple steps in, this could change.
