Extubated on June 30, little Ayana breathed her last. The parents intend to sue the SAMU in court.
The battle is over for little Ayana. The Angers University Hospital (Maine-et-Loire) has announced the death of this 8-month-old baby, who has been in a coma since early May after his polio vaccination. His parents, who initially protested against his extubation, agreed with the medical team at the end of June.
It took Ayana nearly two weeks to breathe her last. Indeed, the infant was extubated on June 30, following a judgment by the administrative court of Caen (Calvados). Doctors deemed the sequelae irreversible and his brain “irreparably destroyed.” The origin of the coma, a severe reaction to the DT-Polio vaccination.
Within hours of the injection, Ayana had suffered from a high fever (42.5 degrees), and seizures. But according to the parents, the SAMU then refused to take care of the little girl, and it was already too late when they presented themselves to the hospital with their baby. Ayana had since been kept alive with the aid of a ventilator.
Today, the fight for its survival is over. But the parents, if they accepted that the ventilator is finally unplugged, still intend to sue the SAMU, responsible according to them for the death of their daughter.
