Montreal, December 28, 1997 – Originally published more than five years ago, a book on the legal and social recognition of alternative and complementary health approaches, Alternative therapies in the face of the medical monopoly, is now available on the Internet, in a full, revised and updated version.
Written by Me Paul Martel, a Quebec lawyer who has been actively involved for several years in the organization of the field of alternative and complementary health approaches (AACS) in Quebec, the book draws an overview of the social problematic and legal framework surrounding these new therapeutic modalities.
The author tries to explain in the most comprehensive and affordable way possible why and how alternative therapies must be recognized in Quebec.
Despite its sometimes a little technical aspect, the book is primarily intended for the general population, to help them become fully aware of the scale, scope and issues of the debate that concerns them first and foremost. .
Political decision-makers and protagonists of the debate in question will also find ample food for thought. The former are encouraged to put things in perspective and to adopt a position free from short-sighted opportunism, the latter, supporters and opponents of alternative therapies, will find reasons to qualify and relativize their respective arguments.
