If the peak of birch pollination seems to have passed, vigilance remains in order in the northeast. Those who are allergic to grasses must follow their treatments.
People sensitive to birch are not done with their allergies. According to the last allergo-pollen bulletin (valid until April 29) of the RNSA (1), the quantities of pollen are still “significant” in a north-eastern quarter of France. And even if the drop in temperatures could limit their number over the next few days, they will soon take advantage of the sunny periods (to come) “to cause a high to very high allergic risk”, announces the Network. This for a few more days “above a Caen-Grenoble line,” he says. In Franche-Comté, the allergic risk will be of average level as in the center of France.
But birch is not the only threat, grass pollens should quickly take over. They are also already responsible for an average allergic risk on the Agen side, in Corsica and in the Rhône valley. Those who are allergic to it “must follow the treatments prescribed by their doctor because the season has started slowly but surely”, warns Charlotte Sindr, director of the RNSA. In addition, oak pollens are also increasingly numerous, responsible for an allergy risk of medium level in the southwest.
The gambler very present around Toulon
In addition, plane tree pollens are gradually disappearing but could still cause a high allergic risk in Narbonne and Castres and an average allergic risk in Rhône-Alpes and in the south-west. The same goes for cypress pollens which will still bother allergic people a little between Agen and Narbonne with the same risk of medium-level allergy. Finally, parietary pollen remains very present around Toulon with a high level of allergic risk.
According to the Asthma & Allergies Association, there are actions to protect yourself (in part) against pollen allergies:
– Avoid outdoor outings in the countryside or in green spaces during the pollen season and more particularly during pollen peaks.
– In the car, drive the windows closed.
– Do not picnic in the grass.
– Do not mow the lawn with the windows open.
– Do not dry your laundry outside.
– Rinse your face and hair after walking outdoors.
– A good reflex: find out about pollen peaks via the Pollen Alerts Widget developed by the RNSA (National aerobiological surveillance network)
