A novel cream made from silicone would make wrinkles disappear. The product, developed by American researchers, would guarantee a “second skin” effect.
It is an invention that should amaze the adept of anti-wrinkle creams. American scientists from the famous MIT General Hospital in Boston have developed a so-called “revolutionary” cream. It would make wrinkles disappear and give a “second skin” effect. The product, which is applied in a layer sheet over the entire face, tightens the epidermis tissues. The product, a silicone polymer, could also have therapeutic applications.
“It is an invisible layer that can act as a barrier and provide cosmetic improvements,” explains Prof. Daniel Anderson, co-author of the study published in the journal Nature Materials. It will be possible to use it to apply local treatments ”.
A first in cosmetics
The silicone-based product is applied in two stages, explains one of its inventors in a video. First, a gel, similar to a cream, is applied to the skin. Then, a catalyst will allow the gel to form an invisible film. Instantly, the skin of the face regains firmness, elasticity, and appears smooth. This effect is particularly visible under the eyes. Its effectiveness lasts nearly 24 hours.
A real alternative to anti-wrinkle products and cosmetic surgery, the product follows long experiments. The development will have taken nearly 10 years, and the researchers say they have tested a hundred polymers. “Creating a product that behaves like skin is extremely difficult,” explains Barbara Gilchrest, dermatologist and co-author of the study. Many people have tried it, but the cosmetic products discovered so far did not have these flexible properties, were uncomfortable, or were itchy. “.
For the moment, no side effects have been identified by the researchers who assure it: this cream is safe.
A therapeutic aim
In addition to the “aesthetic miracles” caused by this cream, the researchers and the Olivo laboratory – associated with the study – are keen to focus on its therapeutic properties. If it is marketed, the product would be exclusively dedicated to the treatment of certain skin diseases, such as eczema and psoriasis. Indeed, clinical trials conducted by researchers have shown that the cream is particularly effective in preventing and avoiding water loss from the epidermis.
