US researchers have developed a new herbal gel that stops bleeding in seconds – small cuts like hemorrhages.
The bandage has taken a hell of a beating. At the Polytechnic of New York (United States), American researchers made a gel capable of stopping bleeding in a few seconds. Its inventor, Joe landolina, is 20 years old and still just a student – with a very bright future.
15 seconds
“VetiGel” is a gelled substance created from a hemophiliac plant, the name of which is kept secret. It acts as an instant coagulant. In 15 seconds, it penetrates the tissues, stops the flow of blood and triggers the natural repair of the skin. It works just as well on small cuts as it does on large wounds and bleeding, stopping in 5-10 minutes.
These very encouraging results have been observed in animals. Moreover, the gel is marketed to veterinarians, as indicated on its website. It is distributed by Suneris, a small Brooklyn-based biotechnology company founded by Joe Landolina. Human trials will start shortly.
Equip wounded soldiers?
If it proves to be as effective as its founder claims, this gel could find its place in the armies, to treat wounded soldiers on the ground. “Our goal is to equip all ambulances, mothers ‘bags and soldiers’ belts,” Joe Landolina told Bloomberg News.
The young founder sees even further. Thanks to the healing power of VetiGel, he thinks he can develop it to treat burns, or even use technology for organ regeneration. “One day, why not! “.
