It looks like the script from a famous movie: Catch Me If You Can, you know? Yet it is the reality. For a whole year, a 31-year-old man practiced psychiatry in the Navarre psychiatric hospital in Evreux (in Eure, department 27) … without have no medical degree!
To be hired within the establishment, the forger had done things in a big way: he presented Romanian university medical degrees attesting to a “major medical training. General with a complementary learning of psychiatry ». Obviously falsified documents.
In total, in the space of fourteen months, 500 patients passed into the crook’s psychiatric office. On May 5, 2017, he was placed in pre-trial detention for “fraud”, “illegal practice of medicine”, “usurpation of diplomas” , “Forgeries and uses of false administrative documents”. In addition, he is also indicted for “RSA fraud” since, in addition to his lie, the man, married, father of three children and from the Congo, combined his salary as a psychiatrist with … an income active solidarity (RSA).
The psychiatric hospital filed a fraud complaint
The forger had been wanted by the national police since 2014: at the time, according to the Regional Health Agency (ARS), he had already passed himself off as a member of the nursing staff in a Lyon hospital.
The Psychiatric Hospital of Evreux has filed a fraud complaint “and will claim damages and interest such as reimbursement by the interested party of the total wages he has collected ”.
This unusual story (although worrying) reminds us of another, which occurred in February 2016 in the region of Chartres: a man, homeless, had spent an entire day in the hospital ER in the skin of a doctor. He was nevertheless arrested 24 hours after his identity theft.
