The start-up InnovHealth and Alcatel Lucent Enterprise have joined forces to launch a digital platform for sharing medical information. It will allow patients to be provided with a kind of digital health passport.
Prescriptions, medical analyzes or even MRIs: it is often difficult to navigate among all the accumulated health documents, especially for people suffering from long-term illness. A start-up from Reims is launching, in partnership with Alcatel Lucent Enterprise, a digital health passport, called Pass’Care. The application will be officially launched on February 1st.
A card, a QR code and an application
Concretely, Pass’Care is a platform that allows you to share information and communicate with other members. It is used by patients and healthcare professionals. Thanks to a card with a QR code, a kind of barcode, and an application, it is possible to collect all the accumulated health data. All you need is internet access to be able to use Pass’Care. “We started from the following observation, explains Adnan El Bakri, founder of InnovHealth at Figaro. There is currently no technology to link healthcare facility IT systems and practitioner software with their patients.
Data protected but free to be shared
According to Adnan El Bakri, the goal is for patients to become masters of their health data. These will be protected by dedicated digital systems, but they will be free to make them available to researchers. Once collected, these data can become useful cohorts for scientific research.
So far, 250,000 people have tested the trial version. The subscription costs 2.99 euros per month, but the start-up targets companies, which can offer registration to their employees. InnovHealth also wishes to extend its market to States. Its founder explained in a Echoes article that the system can replace the vital card in emerging countries, but it could also be of interest to NGOs to help refugees.
In France, since November 6, the personalized medical file (DMP) allows patients to gather all their medical data, but they are only accessible to French health professionals. More than a month after its launch, 3 million DMPs have been created.
