Porsche Taycan GTS (2022). New engine and Sport Turismo variant

The stars of the Los Angeles Auto Show are stepping forward! The event, which will open its doors on November 19, will be an opportunity for the public to get to know new Porsches. Alongside the new Cayman GT4 RS and its Clubsport variant, the German manufacturer presents the GTS variants of the Taycan and … Taycan Sport Turismo! Does this name mean nothing to you in the range of electric sports cars? And for good reason… Until now, the Taycan was only offered as a “sedan” and as a Cross Turismo break-adventurer.

A 3^e body variant for the Taycan

Now a “wise” break is joining the ranks, as is already the case in the Panamera range. The Taycan GTS Sport Turismo takes up the stylistic codes of the Taycan Cross Turismo with a plunging roofline. On the other hand, the raised ground clearance and the all-terrain attributes disappear.

The GTS inherit various black or dark decorative elements, in particular at the level of the front bumper, the base of the exterior mirrors and the contour of the side windows. Inside, the models are embellished with black trim and black anodized brushed aluminum inserts. On the leisure side, the GTS inaugurate a new panoramic roof with control of the opacity of the glazing (Sunshine Control). A liquid crystal film makes it possible to opacify the glass wall, totally or partially (the roof is subdivided into 9 segments) via a simple electric control.

In addition, sports news benefit from a specific adjustment of the adaptive air suspension, combined with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system. The rear steering wheels, as an option, benefit from a sportiness-oriented adjustment. Finally, the Taycan GTS inherit a new sound signature.

A Taycan with 500 km of autonomy

As usual with Porsche, the GTS variant (acronym for Gran Tursimo Sport) is positioned in the range between the 4S and Turbo versions. The Taycan GTS have an output of 440 kW (598 hp). If the manufacturer praises the performance with a 0 to 100 km / h shipped in 3.7 sec for the sedan as for the station wagon (with the Launch Control function), the company especially praises the autonomy of the sporty 100 % electric. It is the first Taycan capable of traveling more than 500 km (504 km exactly, according to the WLTP cycle) with a charge. To increase the “power reserve”, Porsche used a new energy management protocol. This optimization will soon be applied to the other models in the range. It should also be noted that the range of engines for the Sport Turismo version will soon be extended.

The launch of the Porsche Taycan GTS is scheduled for spring 2022. Only the Performance Plus battery (93.4 kWh) is available with this version.
