Can the town hall find me childcare?
“No text obliges the town hall to find you a mode of care”, indicates Stéphanie Nadouze, director of a nursery in the Paris region and author, with Madeleine Deny, of the book “Les modes de garde.” Costs, advantages, disadvantages …, how to choose? ”(Ed. Nathan, 2010). On the other hand, the Early Childhood service of the town hall is available to provide you with information on all the types of childcare available in your town.
The family nursery
A family crèche brings together approved childminders, supervised by early childhood and medical professionals. Most of the time, the children are looked after at the home of the assistant. And once or twice a week, the assistants come to the family crèche so that the children participate in collective activities. Note that in a family crèche, childminders are not employed by the parents but by the town hall. You will therefore have fewer administrative tasks than if you had a nanny work at home: no need to improvise an accountant to carry out his payslips, calculate his paid vacation or pay him his salary each month. The town hall takes care of everything!
The parental nursery
Here, it is an association of parents who manages the premises. Consequently, if you enter a parental nursery, it will require more involvement from you. “On average, each parent comes one day a week, in turn, to help early childhood professionals who take care of children,” explain Stéphanie Nadouze and Madeleine Deny in their book on childcare. The parents will thus distribute the tasks: cleaning, registrations … They also participate in the care of the children but in the compulsory presence of a qualified person (educator of young children, childcare assistant …). Like all the other structures, the parental crèche is placed under the supervision of the maternal and child protection services (PMI) and the number of places is limited: 20 at most, 25 after exemption.
Drop-in centers and multi-reception centers
In addition to the classic, family and parental nurseries, there are two other structures:
– the day-care center, to which you can entrust your child occasionally, that is to say a few hours a week. It welcomes children from 3 months to 4 years old.
– the multi-reception establishment, which combines collective crèche, day-care center, kindergarten (from 2 years old) and extra-curricular reception. You can find all the information on the site
