The proceeds of the boosted diesel go to a good cause
What is a fourth-generation Volkswagen Golf TDI worth with more than 300,000 kilometers on the odometer? For about 700 euros you should certainly be able to pass. At the time of writing, the highest bid for this Golf is no less than 7,100 euros. And they didn’t even wash it for that. Incidentally, that is not laxity, but part of the story that this car tells. And more importantly, the proceeds go to a good cause.
This is the one (though it is the second) real Ring Tracktor by Misha Charoudin. If you have anything to do with the Nürburgring, then you have undoubtedly seen the Dutchman passing by on YouTube or on the infamous toll road. His Golf TDI was well on its way to becoming a serious track car until it all went horribly wrong in Germany earlier this year. A major flood hit the area around the Nürburgring and Misha’s priorities shifted to helping the victims.
The VW Golf ‘Ring Tracktor’ has also drowned
The Golf also went under during the flood, which explains why the car is so gross. Fortunately, the engine was able to be revived. It is not just a tired 1.9-liter TDI, but a completely rebuilt engine with about 300 hp and 500 + Nm. The English Darkside Developments even placed pistons with a gold coating. Furthermore, everything in and around the engine is new and reinforced. Since the refurbishment, the diesel ran only 200 kilometers.
The seats and steering wheel have been cleaned, but the rest of the car is still dirty from the flood. Also, various electronic parts no longer work. Furthermore, the Golf is on a serious coilover from the Dutch JRZ Suspension, the rubbers in the suspension have been replaced by stuff from Powerflex and there is a brake package from Stoptech underneath. Misha also placed a lot of parts from the Audi TT. A roll cage is actually the only thing the car is missing.
A good donor car?
Can the car be saved? Perhaps, but also the body is not the world’s most beautiful anymore. The easiest way is probably to use this Golf as a donor car for a new project. A cheap Golf IV should not be difficult to find. You can bid until Thursday evening. The proceeds of the auction will go to the ‘Helfen ist Gold’ foundation. The full parts list is on Collecting Cars, where you can also bid.
