We know that the food consumed in fast food restaurants is debatable in terms of health, and that it has effects on our line, but what is it really? Top Santé has calculated the caloric addition of a burger menu for you.
But first, how many calories can you consume per day?
Everyone’s daily energy needs depend on gender, age, height, weight and also on the level of physical activity. You can calculate your metabolism in order to know your energy needs according to your profile. On average, the quantities of calories needed daily for an adult are:
- For women: between 1,800 calories (moderate activity) and 2,200 calories (intense activity)
- For men: between 2,200 calories (moderate activity) and 2,600 calories (intense activity)
Burger, fries, coke… How many calories in total?
Do you know how many calories your favorite menu contains? It is now possible to find the nutritional values and the Nutri-Score of all McDonald’s products, the best-known fast food brand, on their site. Top Santé has therefore calculated the total number of calories of one of the most popular orders, a menu Maxi Best Of composed of :
- a burger Big Mac (504 kcal)
- of the fries in medium size (328 kcal) and ketchup (13 calories)
- A Coca in medium size (162 kcal)

The caloric total is just over 1000 calories, which is part of the daily recommendations. As part of a balanced diet and regular activity, eating occasionally in a fast food restaurant is not necessarily contraindicated. But watch out for dessert, if you take an ice cream, you risk blowing up the counter for the day!
However, if it is possible to consume reasonable amounts of calories in a fast food restaurant, beware of sugars. Prefer still or sparkling water instead of a soda for example. And if you can be tempted to replace your soda with a zero coke, certainly not caloric, one of its components is suspected of being dangerous for your health. Indeed, the World Health Organization (WHO) recently qualified aspartame as being potentially carcinogenic for humans.
Trick : Why not exchange the fries for potatoes (224 kcal) or a salad (about 40 kcal with a sauce)?
