Harley’s second electric model is here

More and more motorcycles are becoming electric, this is also the case with Harley-Davidson, which is now introducing a second electric motorcycle.

The rumors have been going around for some time that the motorcycle brand from America was working on it. Now the company is lifting the veil on a second full-size electric motorcycle model. The new electric motor, called LiveWire S2 Del Mar, joins “LiveWire ONE”. The latest update derived from the original LiveWire model in 2019, before that name was spun off as its own brand for future electric models. Obviously this is the future now.

Were the first electric motors not really beautiful, that is different nowadays. The first versions of this new model will be carried out in special paint schemes. The machines Selling fast, as the limited edition run is already sold out, according to the website. LiveWire says the first bikes should arrive to owners and showrooms in the spring of 2023.

Specific tech numbers for the S2 Del Mar aren’t quite known yet, but a LiveWire press release indicates the new bike will deliver 80 horsepower. No torque figure has been released, which is weird for the manufacturer. This is because they regularly brag about their torque figures for their new petrol powered motorcycles and torque is what electric mobility technology is all about today.

Some figures are known. Including the bike’s somewhat unique architecture, which uses the battery housing as the central frame element rather than wrapping a metal frame around the battery housing.

Harley CEO Jochen Zeitz says the bikes are a product of the team that works at LiveWire Labs in Mountain View, California. This is a Silicon Valley hub near Apple, Google and other major tech players. LiveWire also dropped some performance figures, including a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds and a stated range target of about 150 kilometers.
