Listening to Harry Styles, Britney Spears or Beyonce while jogging can save you a lot of time.
- For adults, it is recommended to practice 30 minutes of physical activity at least 5 days a week.
- This reduces the risk of overweight, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and falls.
A new study conducted by the British multinational clothing company Pour Moi has established that you run faster or slower depending on the music you listen to. To do this, “sixty jogging times of thirty runners and the different speeds of the latter when listening to certain music over one kilometer were evaluated and compared”, explains the Slate.fr website.
Drake slows runners
On arrival, it was the artists Harry Styles, Britney Spears and Beyonce who boosted the performance of the athletes the most. Queen B notably allowed runners to gain an average of thirty-three seconds per kilometer, which thus took two minutes and forty-five seconds less to cover five kilometers thanks to Jay-Z’s wife.
On the other hand, listening to Drake is not recommended if you want to beat your personal record. The company Pour Moi found that its songs added twenty-one seconds per kilometer to the participants’ running time, which is equivalent to one minute and forty-five seconds more over a distance of approximately five kilometers. Ditto for BTS, Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry.
Don’t listen to the music too loud
Be careful, however, not to permanently damage your ears by putting the music on too loudly. Even when running, it is strongly advised not to exceed the level indicated by the telephone, nor to turn up the sound when crossing a noisy area.
