A few months before its presentation, the BMW M3 Touring is once again making headlines. The sporty station wagon shows itself without camouflage in a parking lot and on patent illustrations. On the mechanical side, it should take over the 510 hp inline six-cylinder from the BMW M3 Sedan.
BMW multiplies the appearances of its M3 Touring. After a stay in winter sports, the car showed its rear in a video published by the German brand. This time, it is unofficially that the future star of the Bavarian manufacturer is revealed. Thanks to patent illustrations and a photo taken on the fly in a parking lot, we know what the sports station wagon, the presentation of which is to be held in the coming months, will look like.
Surprise without camouflage
We find the M3 Touring in a parking lot, devoid of camouflage. The photos (of very poor quality) show the sporty station wagon in a satin black dress, camped on black rims too and equipped with very wide wheel arches. This vehicle, quite different from what BMW had shown in its aforementioned video, would rather be a pre-series copy.
As patent illustrations confirm, the vitamin break naturally takes up the elements of the M3 Sedan. The front end is identical, still sporting the two huge beans and tapered headlamps. Ditto at the rear, where we find the lights specific to the M3, as well as four exhaust outlets. Note that the 3D printed spoiler located on the tailgate spoiler is not shown on these diagrams.
Up to 510 hp
No technical details have yet been released. In France, only the BMW M3 Competition with its 510 hp 3.0 biturbo inline six-cylinder is in the catalog. This same engine should therefore be included in the station wagon variant. It remains to be seen whether the M3 Touring will be rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. However, it’s a safe bet that the track of the xDrive all-wheel drive is privileged, like the quattro necessarily equipping its rival, the Audi RS4.
