As usual, the vast Artcurial Motorcars stand attracts the attention of the finest international collectors. Nearly 200 vehicles will be auctioned between March 18 and 19. Here is a selection of nuggets to remember, photos and video in support.
Artcurial has been officially exhibiting at the Rétromobile show for 11 years now. The French auction house is obviously back this year with the sale of pre-war rarities, from mythical competition models to the most exclusive 21st century supercars. To make a point, The argus went to meet Pierre Novikoff, deputy director of the Motorcars subsidiary at Artcurial. This one presents us with 10 collector’s items, each with a unique story. And as if that weren’t enough, the editorial staff added 10 other cars of interest just for the pleasure of the eyes… and to satisfy their automotive culture.

The essentials of Pierre Novikoff
As a great automobile lover from all walks of life, the specialist Pierre Novikoff has concocted a program for us that is heterogeneous to say the least. He proved it right from the start with the presentation of prototype No. 1 of the Reyonnah 175, designed in 1950. A very special machine which has the ability to retract its front wheels under the passenger compartment, in order to park in the most difficult places. cramped. A quality probably unknown to Delage D8S Roadster drivers, a typical model of French luxury in the 1930s.
The tour then continues with copies with a well-filled history like this white Oldsmobile Cutlass F85. His particuliarity ? This model was used in 1964 in the film “Le Gendarme de Saint-Tropez. And what about one of the 33 chassis designed by Amédée Gordini, namely here a Type 18S. This one took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1950 with, at the wheel, a certain Juan Manuel Fangio. The million euros should be exceeded!
We continue the tour of French cars with a magnificent example of Peugeot 205 GTI, showing less than 15,000 km on the odometer. Its condition would make you almost jealous of a 1989 Citroën 2CV6 Charleston, extremely rare to find original in grey. But let’s not spoil the surprise, find the rest of Pierre’s selection on video below.

10 other rarities not to be missed
Among the other jewels visible on the Artcurial stand, there are many racing cars. For example, the only Venturi 600 LM (1994) homologated at the time in GT1 is up for auction. The 600 hp of its powerful V6 PRV are however no match for the ultimate evolution of the Peugeot 908 HDI V8 prototype, which will dominate the last race of the 2011 World Endurance Championship season. Prices could soar above €2,000,000, a colossal sum for a diesel engine, right?
